How different is Job’s attitude from those who believe in a religion of fate. He does not simply resign himself and say that suffering is inevitable. He believes he is in the hand of an intelligent and personal God and he also assumes that it is possible for him to understand the explanation for life’s painful experiences. The one who believes in blind fate simply resigns himself to the inevitable and does not expect much from life; he has no loving heavenly Father whose actions towards him need to make sense.Now Job may have been wrong in thinking that at his present level of understanding he could fully grasp why God was treating him in this way, but he was right in thinking that a rational explanation could be given. It is true that God thoughts are higher than our thoughts, but they are still rational thoughts. When we have had our bodies glorified and our minds emancipated, then we will understand more clearly what God has done.
Application
Job somewhat impatiently requests an audience with God. The Lord waits for the right time to unveil his purposes to his people. Sometimes he wills that we should continue without explanation and learn more fully to trust him even though we cannot yet see. A full explanation will be given to the saints in the world to come for all that took place during our lives.
