The turning point in Job’s experience. Suddenly the language changes in an amazing manner.
Now at last for the first time since this whole trial began Job receives a burst of light from heaven, and it is a wonderfully bright burst of light that answers all and for a moment totally dispels the gloom; his whole soul is filled with radiance. God’s answers are so glorious just because they come when all looks hopeless and when Satan has done his worst. When a solution seems impossible and the believer has been driven back so far that he despairs of help from God, then the Lord speaks. Nothing is too hard for the Lord, that none need ever conclude that they are beyond God’s help. Even though his body is still for the time being in the same state, he knows that all will not end in sorrow. How powerful is hope to revive the aching heart, but the hope that comes from God is perfect, without any disappointment, and consistent with all God’s righteousness and truth. It can therefore be fully embraced by the soul and depended upon as an eternal rock that cannot be moved. It is possible for mortal man to be just as certain of his immortality now as when he will possess it in heaven. Thanks be to God that this precious revelation has not been lost, but has been preserved in the word of God, more enduring even than a rock, from which not one jot or tittle will pass away.
In this Satan is pushed back and cannot make the same advance again against any of God’s people, for the consolation of God is given permanently to the people of God and belongs to them as their inheritance in the world. Satan finds that every attack he launches on the people of God rebounds against him and works out to his disadvantage.
