Satan cannot act soon enough, and with malicious zeal puts his plan into immediate effect. He goes from the presence of the Lord, the God of all holiness and kindness and mercy, to execute the most cruel and ferocious plan he can think of.
Satan attacks in a cowardly way, in the worst way imaginable. He cunningly hits us with things that matter less at first, and then increases the intensity without giving us time to recover. We must never underestimate the calculating ways of the devil. He first brings a terrible disease to Job. This must be a time of special danger to all of us, when we are weak or in pain especially when these things are prolonged, because Satan will come to us again in our distress and hit us when we are down.
