Another ghastly sin which fills him with horror is giving way to sexual lust and uncleanness, and crossing that boundary which involves abandoning faithfulness to his own wife. If he has permitted himself to indulge such lusts and not cut them off the very moment they came into his heart; if he has not only savoured them, imagined them, but acted on them and allowed eyes, feet, and hands to coordinate together to achieve them, then he has done a thing which deserves the fire of hell.
How can we draw the line on the wrong side of God’s boundary? Can we safely say concerning our sin, I will go so far and no further. I will indulge my appetites so far but then stop? God gives strength to overcome the initial approach of sin, but not to overcome it once it has gathered strength and been encouraged by victories over us. If the eyes are allowed to look on what they should not, then we better repent quickly and realise that we have already put ourselves in extreme danger. We had better pray to God for deliverance from the snare that we have walked into and stop all other pursuits until we are free.
