The creation of the sea is spoken of in terms of a birth. Here is the sea; God created it.
How many profitable lessons are withheld from those who do not accept the Bible’s account of creation. From the sea we learn that God overlooked nothing that was necessary for the welfare of man, but prepared a home for him that was safe and suitable. How can he forget about his people when he has expended so much care on us? But then, like the sea, he is also able to restrain us when our behaviour becomes unruly – ‘Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people’ (Psalm 65:7). He watches each one of us and has a plan for each one, knowing how he is going to train us in this life, and preparing many character-forming experiences for us before we get to the end of our days.
