At this point the Lord pauses. In the same way that Job and his friends had alternated in their speeches, so the Lord gives Job an opportunity to respond.
We must never question our God, or find fault with his ways. Always we presuppose his goodness, power, blessing, never for a moment do we mistrust him, or doubt his knowledge. If a judge makes a bad judgement, we say he does not know all the facts, but God knows all things. If what seems unfair comes to us, we must never think him unfair. Instead we admonish ourselves with our own ignorance, and continue to trust the one who has demonstrated his goodness in so many ways. When we have been presumptuous in complaining against God, let us quickly see how outlandish we have been and shut our mouths before him.
