‘The same’, the repetition comes in, ‘was in the beginning with God’, Father and Son, and of course the Holy Spirit not mentioned particularly here. So we start with Christ as the Word. And then we immediately go on to Christ as Creator, in verse three. This is just the overture, the prologue, and we are going rapidly through the things that will be developed in the gospel.
