John 1:39
Comments
‘They came and saw where he dwelt.’ We are not told where, whether it was a lodging with a believing person, or whether it was a booth of leaves and branches put up for the great crowds that attended the preaching of John.John remembers the exact time because this was such a momentous event in his life. That is an eyewitness reporting, so the other disciple beside Andrew must be John. How precious to every believer is the memory of the time when they first came to know the Lord, and saw him as their Saviour, that first meeting with Christ which changed them forever and which they will look back upon for all eternity.

Questions
The text says it was the 10th hour. If this is Roman time, then it would be 10.00 in morning and they were there all day. But John normally uses Jewish way of reckoning in which case it would be 4.00 in afternoon. The former is more likely because as Hendriksen points out John says that they spent that day with him, not that evening. This hour of the day also leaves time for Andrew to find Peter and bring him to Christ.
