We will see why they said this: ‘John did no miracle.’ This is the region where John had preached, but he never worked a miracle. He spoke of one who would come. He would be the Lamb of God. He would fulfil the prophecies. But ‘all things that John spake of this man’, presumably including his miracles, ‘were true. And many believed on him there.’ They believed the reasoning ministry of John. They believed the reasoning ministry of Christ when he appeared among them, and the Spirit moved and many believed on him there.
