She believes it wholly now. I think she realises; she understands the intimation.
Reflect on it, and reflect on it often. Do you know why we as Christians are so often in trouble, and downcast? Because we don’t reflect on these things in our time, our hour of need. Praise God for them, for all your worth. Live in the light of the fact that you will never die. Seek to bring others to this experience also. How can we say, ‘I, by the grace of God – I do not deserve this – but I shall never taste death.
Of course, we have got to do our jobs, we have got to bring up our families, and keep our homes, we have got to do things well, to the glory of God, help our community, and other people, if we can, but never will we be overwhelmed by mere earthly things, because there is something far greater on the horizon. ‘I am never going to die. I am going to be ushered in to eternal glory with my Lord and Saviour.’ What a difference it makes to my outlook on life. How can I have my head stuck in catalogues, or in shop windows, desiring, lusting, wanting, more and more, when I have this extraordinary blessing.
You know, we understand them, we believe them, but how often we think about this? ‘I shall never die; I shall never experience death, if I trust in Christ. I may be very ill, I may be laid low, but the moment the light of this world turns out, the light of the next comes on, and my soul is transported into eternity, and into the presence of Christ. Whatever happens, guns may be blazing around me, and bombs exploding, I may be drowning in swirling waters, I can say: I will never taste death, not for a moment.’
