From chapter ten we realise that this refers to the Gentiles. How Caiaphas should have interpreted the words that came into his mind: ‘This Jesus of Nazareth, is the Saviour. He will die to bring salvation to all God’s people, and what’s more, this salvation will go out among the Gentiles’ But that wasn’t his interpretation because he had no room in his mind for the fact that Jesus was truly the Messiah, the Son of God.
