And then the mysterious statement of Isaiah: ‘That the saying of Esaias the prophet be fulfilled, which he spake.’ This is Isaiah 53. ‘Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?’ Isaiah 700 years beforehand puts these words into Messiah’s mouth, into Christ’s mouth, and depicts him as saying to the Father, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’ It is the prophet’s way of saying, the majority will not believe in him.
