And then, even more strongly, in verse 47. It is all a divinity statement. It is about God – the triune Godhead – who is going to hold each one to account. ‘He that rejecteth me, [however] and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken.’ And that is true still today. Anyone who rejects Christ is judged by his appeals and his words. ‘The same shall judge him in the last day.’
