John 13:3 Commentary and Bible Study

Why does the apostle John tell us that? Why does he tell us – Jesus knowing that he had all authority given to him and all power, Calvary is as good as done, and that he was from God and was returning to God? Because the verse that follows says – ‘He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments.’ John wants us to know that Christ performed this symbol of his humiliation and humbled himself to wash the feet of the disciples in the full light of knowing that he was the Son of God, who was returning to God, and who would accomplish Calvary and return to great glory.
