‘Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now?’, thinking he is speaking of going to some other location or country. ‘I will lay down my life for thy sake.’ It is Peter’s great noble statement. But Peter does not know himself and the same is true of the other disciples. Although they have been with Christ three years, they do not have the faith to lay down their life for him. Within hours they are going to be fleeing, facing the possibility that they may be taken and they may suffer just as Christ has.
