John 16:25 Commentary and Bible Study

‘These things have I spoken unto you [all the teaching up till now] in proverbs [that is to say in veiled speech], but the time cometh [right away] when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father’, because the Spirit will come. It will start at once, because in the resurrection appearances Christ explained quite a few things in very plain terms. The apostles and the prophets were given a great deal of direct understanding but of course also the Spirit inspired selected individuals, and the New Testament was completed. As a result everything was so very clear, and that is what the Saviour refers to here.
