John 16:28 Commentary and Bible Study

This sentence is going to turn the disciples around. Just follow it. ‘I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.’ Christ refers to his official appointment by the Father to come and to be the Saviour of men and women. ‘I came forth from the Father, and am come.’ That is clearly his incarnation. ‘Again, I leave the world.’ That is his death. ‘And go to the Father’, his ascension and his taking up his position again at the right hand of the Father. So he spells it out to them. Now that seems to make a tremendous impact on the disciples.
