John 16:4 Commentary and Bible Study

The time was to come very soon. Up till now all the hostility was directed at Christ not at his apostles. He protected them in a sense. He drew all the fire personally, but now he must warn them that he is gone, and they are his representatives, his spokespeople, his preachers. And they, instead, will have all the hostility directed to them.So there it is, the bleak side, the opposition of the world. These are two kingdoms: the kingdom of Christ, where the truth is proclaimed, and the kingdom of an unbelieving world which is hostile to Christ, which is under the power of the prince of the power of the air, the enemy of souls.
