Comments
The Jewish leader did not literally do it – Roman executioners did it – but Christ was delivered to the will of the Jews. Pilate, it is often said, washed his hands of the matter but he didn’t wash his soul. And not very long after this he was deposed as governor of Judea and nothing more is heard of him in history, except that there is an ancient tradition that says he committed suicide, he took his life. And then he would have faced the Judge of all the earth.
