John 21:24 Commentary and Bible Study

When you first read verse 24 it sounds as though it may still be John writing, but others are signing off for him, others who identify themselves in the plural as ‘we’. Who were they? The best guess is that they are the elders of the church at Ephesus, where John probably was when he wrote this epistle.We know the apostle John, we know his life, we know his convictions, we know his consistency all the time he has ministered in this place. We know his godliness and his holiness. We know he is anointed of God, we know his testimony is true, and we know it by the illumination of the Spirit. When the Spirit of God regenerated our heart and gave us spiritual instincts, one of the first experiences we had as Christians is that we just knew this was true.
