He knows all about her past, as he knows about the lives of each one of us. She must have been astonished, amazed. If she is sensitive on this point – and she was – now she is astonished. ‘He knows all about me. This is impossible. He has never been near our township, our village, how can he know these things?’ She is shocked and astonished. It is the first arrow of conviction, but she is not going to buckle yet; she is going to hold out.
