Immediately a mass of white garments are to be seen crossing the field, so that Christ is able to say to the disciples – because they had obviously been remarking about the time that harvest will come – ‘Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.’ And surely he must be referring to the white clothing of the people, of the Samaritan men coming from that nearby village or township to see him.
