He does not say, ‘Your son will live’, but, ‘your son is better; your son is healed already.’ What a challenge.
And that is how it has to be for us when we come to Christ for salvation. I must not say, ‘Lord, forgive me and change me, and do it in such a dramatic manner that I do not have to doubt.’ Instead I must believe him and trust him and sincerely yield my heart to him. I have pleaded for forgiveness; I have trusted in what he has done on Calvary to purchase salvation for me and to bear my punishment, and now I am going to believe him and obey him. I am going to read my Bible, and I am going to pray every day, and I am going to live by his power, because I am trusting him.
