This is the first reference of this kind in the Gospel of John. The Lord’s weariness, or if you like, the Lord’s exhaustion! What an astounding thing, what an astonishing thing, that the second person of the triune Godhead, the Lord of glory should enter into human flesh, and voluntarily submit himself to its limitations, and know exhaustion and fatigue.
When you get your next car, think of that. He never had anything of that sort. He humbled himself for us, to take our place, and to suffer human limitation. Do not spend too much on yourself, do not live too grandly, if you are a Christian, a child of God. God allows you liberty in your purchases, but be sensible, do not be carried away. So often, the further you get from your Saviour in wealth and comfort, the further you get from him in behaviour and godliness and spirituality. So do not over do things. Note the great voluntary humiliation of Christ.
