It was not appropriate for Christ to have the great acclamation of the crowd, so he had moved away. Now he finds him or, more literally, sees him.
That is what happens to us when we are saved, when we come to Christ, and we repent of our sin, and believe in him and his atoning death as the only way of salvation. We come for free salvation and we yield our lives. He says in a sense, Sin no more. In other words, do not live for sin. Live for righteousness, live for God, live for Christ. And it is an authoritative statement, just as – ‘Rise, get up, walk, take up your pallet’ –was an authoritative statement. End the life of this world for self and for sin. Begin today a new life. He puts within us spiritual life and communion with himself.
