In spite of this harsh rebuke, Christ had not come to accuse them but to save them. And yet there was one who did accuse them and ironically it was the very one they trusted in: Moses. He had prophesied of the coming Messiah, and if they really believed Moses, they would have accepted Jesus Christ. Since they did not believe Moses writings, how were they going to believe Jesus’ words? It was to help them that Moses prophecies had been given by God for the very purpose of helping them to recognise the Lord Jesus Christ when he came into the world.
