Christ describes himself as the one who does not seek his own glory, but the glory of his Father who sent him. He forsook all glory for himself on earth in order to complete his mission.
This is the way that every disciple of Christ must also go, for we cannot seek our own glory when our Master did not, and still be called his followers. We must forsake our own glory by living no longer for ourselves but for Christ who has purchased us with his blood. Without him we would not have life, so the life that we have we give back to him, and use it to enhance his glory and honour with all our power.]
There are so called ministers of the gospel who are working for their own glory. They want to be regarded as great preachers, and to be admired for their teaching and their wealth. They draw money out of people by their false gospel. We must apply this test to ourselves: Am I seeking glory for myself or for God? Who do I wish other people to look at, myself or the Lord? Am I stealing honour that belongs to him for myself?
We are made to be worshipping being but before we come to Christ, we do not want God. We make idols on earth and we have this tendency to admire human achievements and human greatness, and we lift up the celebrities. We have to have people who are successful and strong in high places. Who are you worshipping?.
