Maybe this refers to these officers who would be looking for him even after his resurrection. Possibly they were commanded to do so, to disprove that there was any real resurrection. Or perhaps he is referring prophetically to AD 70 when the Roman armies would encompass Jerusalem, and it would fall and be destroyed, and it would be the end of the priesthood. And perhaps there would be many who had never believed on him who would then cry out to the Messiah they hoped for, and they had not recognised him in Christ.
