Sarcastically and scornfully, no doubt, they say among themselves, ‘Where does he think he will go, where we do not have the authority and the power to pursue him and take him? What is he talking about? Unless he goes to the dispersed Jews living among the Gentiles, beyond our jurisdiction. And they will reject him too, just as we have. And then will he be left with final humiliation teaching the Gentiles? Will he come to that?’ For them it is a matter of great scorn. Events will show that he had all the power and they had none. They were not joined to him, they had no communion with him. They had no power over him except by his own consent.Well, after his resurrection and ascension, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the church that he leaves behind, he will do all those things. Jerusalem will be evangelised, Judaea and Galilee, Samaria, the regions beyond where the Jews of the dispersion have gone, and the Gentiles. And there will be a great harvest, and the mission of God to the world will be successful. And Jews and Gentiles together will be saved until Christ returns. Elect Jews and elect Gentiles, saved and brought into the kingdom of God until Christ shall come again.
