What are the works of Abraham? He obeyed God. You may be in a church worship service as someone who believes Christ is God, and yet it is just possible that you have never repented of your sin, and you have never yielded your life to him, and you have never been converted. And you are in the position of these men here who believed in him, but that is all. There was no conversion, nothing else was in place. And you may say, I believe in him – then why are you not at the Bible study? Why are you not at the evening service? Why are you not bringing up your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord? Why are you spending half of your life in front of the television set, instead of loving and praising and learning and serving the Lord of heaven and earth?
If you were Abraham’s children, then you would be like Abraham. You would obey him and love him, and your life would be changed, and you would have a new outlook, and you would know him, and you would walk with him. I think probably the majority of people here truly know the Lord, but there may be some. You may be in the halfway stage, and really you are lost. You believe in him, but you have never actually come to him, and repented of your sin, and been changed by him so that now you live for him.
