It is the same today. Sometimes we can go in for some apologetic evidence, and we can do our best to establish the reasonableness of a Creator and creation, and we can shoot down in flames the theory of evolution, and we can produce all sorts of archaeological artefacts to prove that the Bible is true, and, yes, it is good to do all those things. It may open people’s eyes to some extent. But the only thing that really removes the prejudice of people is the work of the Holy Spirit, and the Gospel is the most important instrument of all. And we see this reflected here: ‘The Jews did not believe concerning him’, so they called his parents to the hearing and they were led off to the court, no doubt in fear.
