By these miraculous events that surrounded the birth of their child, John was going to be launched into his very public ministry about thirty years later. The people would not have forgotten these things, but would have followed the life of the child with great interest.
We must pray for the very best things for our children, which is not greatness in this world, but great usefulness in the plan of God. Like Samuel’s parents, John the Baptist’s parents were deprived of the pleasure of his constant company, but they were ready for this if it meant that he would walk close to the Lord.
