The Lord is telling his disciples not to rush around from house to house, but to stay in one house in each village if they are received there. They are not there to savour the hospitality; they are there to do the work of the Lord. The Lord does not keep his workers in luxury and in plenty, but he trains them to live in simplicity. Let them not be any the less grateful or any less in awe of his provision, just because it is a modest supply of their needs. Every morsel of food and sip of drink is the provision of the Lord and is to be appreciated and given thanks for.
