Like Simeon, Anna was allowed to see the coming into the world of the Lord’s Christ before she departed from this life. She came in as Simeon was there with Joseph and Mary and the child.
How great a privilege God’s New Testament people have, who look back on the completed work of redemption! We too look for redemption, but what we look for is the final stage of redemption, the redemption of the body at the resurrection, at the second coming of Christ. We have received the first stage of redemption. We have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14). We have been raised up together with Christ and made to sit with him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). But our change is not yet complete. We wait eagerly for the redemption of the body (Romans 8:23).
