The truth is not fragile; it is not damaged or weakened because it has passed through the mouths of mocking men and women who relate it without understanding. It is not made false on account of the significance that unbelief attaches to it. The truth may come out of the mouth of a false prophet, but it loses none of its power, and will still be fulfilled. Those who speak in mockery will find that their own words condemn them as being without excuse. They came as close as it is possible to come to the truth of God, but without any advantage. How woefully that reflects upon their own thinking processes! And what remorse they will suffer that they did not think more seriously about their own words! We must not handle anything that God says carelessly, for it is that by which we live. We can believe in Christ whatever mockers say about him. Why should we be discouraged from believing in his name? Be bold and come to the only Saviour ever given to this world. Ignore the abuse that is heaped on Christ and his followers. Remember that the thing to be gained - eternal life - is worth all the abuse that you could receive.
