‘All flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ That salvation is embodied in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. All flesh shall see him because the wonders of Calvary will be preached to every nation on earth in obedience to the great commission. They shall hear of him and some shall respond to the call of the gospel from every nation. They shall see the work of the gospel in their own lives as they are transformed by God and reconciled to him. A way will be prepared in their own case for Christ the Son of God to enter into their hearts as the valleys of ignorance are raised, the mountains of sin are levelled, and the crooked places made straight. Isaiah is looking forward to the gospel age and, of all the prophets, he speak most explicitly about the call of the Gentiles.
