You can see that they are overwhelmed by the occasion, and with reverence and with amazement. Peter begins almost to gabble, is what the text indicates, and he says to the Lord Jesus Christ, ‘Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias [Elijah].’ This was his immediate thought, so overcome was he by reverence and amazement. He thought he should be doing something. He should be serving them in some conspicuous way. He didn't know what he was saying.
