Mark mentions the temptation of the Lord Jesus Christ only in passing. He honours the temptation; he mentions it, but the Gospel of Mark is, in a sense, an evangelistic tract. It is an abridged Gospel, you may say. It is intended for the purpose of proclaiming Christ and winning souls, and some things are omitted that are recorded in the other Gospels and some things are treated in very truncated fashion. The temptation of Christ, of course, is of vital importance, and so here it is recorded as a historical fact.
