The language is very strong: ‘But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased.’ Christ was indignant, very displeased, and the disciples were collectively made well aware of this.
There are many cases of those who have come to faith as little children, and as soon as a child is old enough to understand the gospel, they are old enough to trust in Christ. Those who belong to the kingdom of heaven are characterised as having the trusting dependence of a child. It goes without saying that the difference between a child and an adult is far smaller than the difference between a child of God and his heavenly Father. Every Christian should come to his heavenly Father with great humility in dependence on him to provide for so many needs that he cannot provide for himself.
How terrible that the instincts of parents can be so corrupted in our day that instead of shielding their children from harm, and presenting them to God for his lifelong protection and blessing, they can actually hand them over to the worst and most unnatural evil influences in this world.
