It is the greatest question that could possibly be asked: ‘What think ye of Christ?’ (Matthew 22:41). What was he about? It’s not just what do you know about him in a general sense. Most people know something about him, and can identify him, roughly, historically. But what is your opinion of him? What is your view of him? And to answer that you need to know really who he was and his purpose, and what he set out to do. Do you know the answer to any of these things? So much depends upon your answer to this question. It is the unasked question today. Nobody apart from perhaps a Christian might ask it of you, to get talking to you. But nobody else will ask you this most vital of all questions. This question leads you to consider the meaning of life, the ultimate purpose of life, the destination of life. It is urgent that you settle the question, what do we think of Christ? It is the most avoided question. If you stop people on the street and try to talk about Jesus Christ they will often thrust you aside. Possibly because they are in a hurry, but usually because everybody is avoiding this question. This is about submission to the everlasting God. This is about surrendering my moral liberty and my self-determination. It is about having God in my life to guide me, to bless me, to rule over me.
