Of course it's a product of pride, but it's in all of us unfortunately. We are created with many abilities and capacities, and we become used to doing all kinds of complex things. Life is crowded, particularly today, and full of technology, and we become adept at doing this and that, and we become confident in these things, and that self-confidence spreads through the whole of life. Tragically, we can become self-confident also with spiritual things, and with the fight against sin and Satan, and we trust to ourselves and our own capacity and strength. So this is for us.
