There must have been thousands of sermons preached on this text, and it is usually simplified to this question, ‘What will you do with Jesus?’, and it's a valid question. It was asked of the crowds: ‘What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?’ Yes, Christ asks men and women to make this judgment of him, to set a value on him. But of course, he is the perfect one, and it is we who are being judged by the judgment that we make. Our adverse judgment does nothing to take away from him. We are held accountable for what we make of him. We evaluate him by his claims about himself, by his incomparable teaching, by the works which no other man has done, by the fulfilment of prophecy, by the resurrection from the dead.
Application
The question comes to us, yes, ‘What will you do with Jesus of Nazareth?’ This is the most important question that anyone could be asked, and the most significant judgment that anyone can make. Will you choose him or this vain and passing world? Is it him or unbelief? Will you choose him and heaven, or godlessness and everlasting banishment and punishment? But they cried out again, Crucify him..
