He cries in a loud voice. John and Luke tell us what he said; Mark and Matthew do not say.
We can use these words as we come to Christ – ‘Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.’ Not quite as Christ used them, in absolute faith and certainty that he was returning to his Father, but more in the sense that David used them. In all my present troubles I commit my soul into the safekeeping of God. Believe in Christ; believe he died for sinners; repent of your sin; hand over your life, and trust, trust, commit your soul to Christ, who suffered and died for sin, and you’re safe, and you’re saved, and you’re made new.
