Simon, named Peter – an impulsive man, inclined to be self-confident and over-confident. He was brought down when he denied the Lord, covered in shame, and needed special forgiveness and reinstatement in his office by the Lord. A fallible man! If we read about Simon Peter we know a great deal about him. He seems to be generous hearted, unselfish in many ways; forward in many ways, an enormous encouragement, you would think, to any cause, a man of action, and yet there were the blemishes too when Christ found him, and many that we don't read about no doubt.
