‘Other seed fell on good ground and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased.’ This was the only seed that bore fruit and the fruit was the whole reason for sowing the seed, for the sower’s hard work. In the parable this is the only soil that represents those who have come to salvation, in whom the gospel has brought life. All the other categories of hearer fail to produce the one thing necessary.
