The Lord Jesus Christ expresses absolute confidence in the will of the Father. His will and his purposes are perfect; his choices are perfect; what gives pleasure to him is perfect, because all of the Godhead and all his attributes are involved in those choices and they are made with infinite wisdom.
Many things are hidden from us, but our hearts are at peace because we trust the perfect wisdom of the Father in the choices he has made. We are deeply content with our position of dependence on him, because we know that he is good, and where he operates beyond our ability to see, he will continue to be good and to do good. Here we have an instance of the incarnate Son worshipping the Father and finding all his delight in him. He looks away from the misery, the vanity, the sinfulness of this world, and he looks up to the perfection of God. The world will pass away, but the God of heaven and his works endures forever.
