Comments

The angels are his angels, angels created by the Son of Man. They are, as it were, raring to go. They must be held back until the hour when Christ chooses that they act. They are eager for judgment; they are held in check and prepared for that very hour, waiting to act the moment he gives the word. They understand why there has been a delay and they admire his perfect wisdom and timing, but now they will go forth unopposed with all the power he gives them.The world belongs to Christ, and it has been corrupted by one who never had any right to it. Satan is an imposter who will be thrown out. Even though he claims this world as his own, and has sown tares in Christ’s field, none of this murderous and evil action have changed the fact that the world was created by the Word of God and was made to bring forth a harvest of good things. Therefore the angels will be sent forth to gather out of his kingdom – it is expressed this way – all things that offend. It is still his kingdom. The presence of evil in it, is a temporary anomaly. Its purity will be restored and all the evil that the enemy has done will be undone. Evil will not be allowed to have any presence any longer, and therefore the tares, the children of the wicked one will be removed without trace. Although their presence in the world and their malice towards the children of the kingdom cause great distress for a while, when they have been removed, it will be as if they never had any lasting power at all.

Application

Do you tell yourself that God will never judge the world and that sin has no consequences? Do you think that you can enjoy the pleasures of sin without paying for what you do? Has your conscience been beaten into silence, or into an occasional whimper only? Do not deceive yourself. God will rouse himself from his sleep, and show that nothing has escaped his attention. He will cleanse his kingdom in which you are dwelling as an imposter. He knows the difference between those who are his and those who are planted by the enemy. Though the difference between them is sometimes unclear to us, the Lord knows them that are his. Make every effort to enter fully into his kingdom, for at the end of time, his kingdom will stand and all other kingdoms will be cast down.
