The Gentiles will be brought in from east and west, from far beyond Israel’s borders, but the children of the kingdom will be cast out. By calling them the children of the kingdom, Christ highlights the tragedy of the situation.
Let us learn to weep in repentance now so that we do not have to weep in eternal punishment when it is too late to repent. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Let us learn to be grateful for, and to take advantage of the external privileges that God has given us before they are taken away again because we have not responded to his gift. Let the child brought up in a Christian family with godly parents not despise the Scriptures he is taught and the right standards of conduct he is trained in, and let him seek the Lord early before he leaves the protection of the family home.
