The completion of the task, despite all of the tactics they could think of to slow progress, made their enemies feel small. They weren't the superior people, after all.
What a wonderful thing when sometimes that happens, even in our time, and Christian work surges forward in some way and people are converted and transformed, and some of them are people who were in all kinds of trouble, and even the worldling is obliged to say, ‘There is nothing else could have accomplished this, but a work of God.’ They may not say it outwardly, but they have to say it inwardly, sometimes. When God is with us in answer to prayer, the things that are accomplished spiritually in people's lives have to be acknowledged even by the unbeliever. It's a witness to them.
