Nehemiah 9:32
Comments
Now the prayer proper starts. All before this has reviewed the attributes of God, his characteristics, his acts, his kindness, their own unworthiness, God's plan in preserving them, and now comes the beginning of the prayers. The repentance is complete and now is the petition part of the prayer in this great covenant festival.
Application
This is a model for us. We are to worship and praise God and recount his being and his attributes, and his dealings with his people. And then we are to bring our petitions before him. He must never be taken for granted. We must never ask without acknowledging what we have already received. We must never make demands on him as if we are, in our own right, entitled to them.
